The Tomzon A31 is an extremely well designed mini drone and ideally suited for beginners as well as children from about 6 years. The special feature of the small drone are its luminous LEDs around the four propellers, which provide a real light spectacle in the sky.
Design and weight
The Tomzon A31 measures just 12.7 x 15.8 x 4.2 cm and is made of sturdy ABS plastic. Thanks to the good workmanship and the robust material, the small quadcopter survives most crashes completely unscathed and thus ensures long-lasting flying fun. Its durability is also helped by the propeller guard, which protects all four rotors from damage when they come into contact with obstacles.
It also protects bystanders from the drone’s propellers, making the Tomzon A31 a safe drone for children.
The colorful LEDs of the drone, which weighs just 68 grams, glow alternately in red, green, blue and yellow and let you keep a good eye on the copter at all times.
The drone is suitable for use both indoors and outdoors. However, due to the low weight, it is best to fly only when there is no wind. The Tomzon A31 does not have a camera.
The features of the Tomzon A31
Takeoff and landing of the Tomzon A31 work at the push of a button. Once in the air, it independently maintains the current flight altitude without having to permanently press the thrust control. If the mini drone drifts to one side, it can be balanced again with the help of the trim buttons.
There are a total of three different speeds to choose from, so you can slowly get used to handling the drone.
Should you ever lose control of the copter, it can be brought to an instant stop with the help of the emergency stop function.
Beginners in particular will be pleased with the Headless mode, in which simplified control is available. While it is usually important to know which direction the front of the drone is currently pointing when you want to execute a control command in a certain direction, this does not matter in headless mode. The drone will always fly in the pressed direction, no matter how it is currently oriented in the sky.
Another highlight of the Tomzon A31 is the 3D Flip function, which allows them to make the drone perform flips at the touch of a button. Especially for children, this is great fun.
Flight time and range
The flight time of the Tomzon A31 is about 6 to 8 minutes – per battery. Since the drone comes with two batteries (3.7 V, 710 mAh) from the factory, you can enjoy a total of up to 20 minutes of flight before the batteries need to be recharged.
A charging process takes about 60 to 80 minutes with the included USB-C charging cable, depending on the power adapter you connect the batteries to. You can use the power adapter of your smartphone, for example, or charge the batteries via a powerbank or on a PC or laptop.
The control range of the A31 is about 55 yards (50 meter) outdoors. However, obstacles such as buildings or trees can reduce the range.
