Design and Features
The most striking feature of the AVIALOGIC Q9s is certainly its all-round LED illumination. The blue (front) and green (rear) LEDs are integrated into the protective frames around the four rotors and provide a true light spectacle in the sky. It is possible to switch between three different lighting modes:
- Continuous illumination of all four rings
- Alternating illumination of the front and rear rings
- Alternating illumination of all four rings
The LEDs shine exceptionally brightly and let you spot the drone very well in the sky, especially at dusk. When all LEDs are permanently lit, you can also easily distinguish the front and rear of the drone, which is incredibly helpful when controlling it.
The protective frames in which the LEDs are installed protect the drone’s propellers in the event of collisions on the one hand, but also bystanders from the rapidly spinning rotors on the other. Therefore, the AVIALOGIC Q9s is especially recommended as a drone for kids, who are thus protected from injury.
The drone is made of high-quality ABS plastic, which makes it durable enough to survive most crashes without damage. Should a propeller ever break, you can easily replace it with one of the included replacement propellers.
The dimensions are 17.5 x 17.5 x 5 cm. This makes the small and also very lightweight quadcopter a mini drone.
Flight preparation
The AVIALOGIC Q9s has all kinds of helpful features to make using the drone as easy as possible. These include one-touch takeoff and landing, automatic altitude hold, and three different speeds.
Unlike other drones, to take off, the drone must first be turned on and then the controller. Before taking off, the drone should be briefly calibrated once each time. This works with the help of a single button press on the remote control. Make sure that the drone is placed on a flat surface so that the internal gyroscope can align itself correctly.
If the AVIALOGIC Q9s drifts in one direction while hovering, the control pad on the controller can be used to readjust until the drone is hovering stably on the spot.
For takeoff and landing, a simple button press is all that is needed. When taking off, the copter rises about 3 feet (1 meter) into the air and then hovers on the spot. To land, the takeoff/landing button can be pressed again. The quadcopter will then come in for a soft landing.
The features of the AVIALOGIC Q9s
Depending on your skills, you have a choice of three different speeds, which can be switched between at the touch of a button on the controller.
When you release the control joysticks, the AVIALOGIC Q9s will maintain the current altitude on its own. In general, the drone is very easy to operate and steer the desired direction. For even easier control, you can also choose the so-called Headless mode.
In Headless Mode, it doesn’t matter if the front or rear of the drone is facing you when changing direction. The drone will always fly in the pressed direction, no matter how it is oriented in the sky. So there is no need to rethink based on the current orientation here.
However, we recommend that you do not only fly in Headless mode and also practice the normal control, because by far not all drones have such a mode.
The AVIALOGIC Q9s is capable of two acrobatic flight maneuvers that can be performed at the touch of a button. The drone can perform 360° flips or spin on the spot at breakneck speed.
The remote control still requires 3 1.5 V AAA batteries, which are not included.
Flight time and range
The flight time of the AVIALOGIC Q9s is approx. 7 minutes per battery. If you turn off the LED lighting, about 7.5 minutes are possible. Since the drone comes with two batteries (3.7 V, 500 mAh LiPo) from the factory, you can enjoy up to 15 minutes of flight time before the batteries need to be recharged via the included USB charging cable. One charging process takes about 50 to 60 minutes.
Since no power adapter is included with the drone, either use the one on your smartphone or connect the charging cable directly to a PC, laptop or power bank.
The control range is about 77 yards (70 meters). You can fly the drone either indoors or outdoors. However, outdoors you should make sure that it is not too windy. Due to the low weight of the drone, it can easily drift away in stronger winds.
