DEERC D20 – Mini Drone with 2 Batteries
The DEERC D20 is an affordable mini drone with 720p HD camera and FPV live image transmission. The foldable quadcopter comes with two batteries and allows flight times of up to 20 minutes.
Design and weight
With its dimensions of 19.6 x 16.2 x 4.3 cm, the DEERC D20 is extremely compact and can be conveniently transported. The low weight of just 69 grams also makes transporting the drone very uncomplicated.
The DEERC D20 can be flown both indoors and outdoors, although it should be as windless as possible when used outdoors.
To protect the drone as well as bystanders, the DEERC D20 has four propeller guards which can be optionally attached. These guards prevent the propellers from being damaged in the event of collisions with objects. This also protects people from the rapidly rotating rotors should contact ever occur.
Due to this protection and the generally low weight, the DEERC D20 is also ideally suited as a drone for children.
Flight time and features
The DEERC D20 can be controlled either exclusively via the supplied controller or in combination with a smartphone. For example, if you want to enjoy the FPV live image transmission, you need to attach your smartphone to the remote control. A practical smartphone holder is available for this purpose.
Takeoff and landing of the DEERC D20 work quite simply via one-key takeoff/landing button. Once in the air, the small drone achieves flight times of about 10 minutes – per battery. Since the DEERC D20 comes with two LiPo batteries from the factory, you can enjoy up to 20 minutes of flying fun before the batteries need to be recharged. A charging process via USB charging cable takes about 80 minutes.
The 2.4 GHz remote control of the DEERC D20 lets you control the mini drone within a range of about 44 yards (40 meters). The range of the FPV signal is slightly less and is about 33 yards (30 meters).
Thanks to the so-called Altitude Hold function, the drone independently holds the current altitude when you release the thrust control. This simplifies the control of the drone immensely and should be an important feature especially for children and beginners.
Two nice extras of the DEERC D20 are the 360° flip function and the route planning option in the app. While the flips are almost automatic, you can let your creativity run wild when planning the flight path. Simply draw a flight path on your smartphone’s display and the drone will fly the planned route on its own.
Security features
The DEERC D20 is equipped with two safety features. For example, a beep warns you when the battery is low and signals that you should prepare to land. This prevents the copter from simply going out in mid-flight and falling out of the sky.
Should you accidentally maneuver yourself into a dicey flight situation, there is also an emergency stop button that lets you stop the drone on the spot.
Headless-Mode
Especially beginners will be happy about the Headless mode of the DEERC D20. When you activate this mode, it doesn’t matter if the front or rear of the drone is facing you when you execute a control command to the left, right, front or rear. The drone will always fly in the direction you want it to, no matter how it is currently oriented in the sky.
However, we recommend that you only fly in headless mode for as short a time as possible, and that you also learn how to control the drone “properly” as soon as possible, since not all drones have headless mode.
The camera of the DEERC D20
The DEERC D20 has a 720p HD camera that records video in 1280 x 720 pixels. The camera lens can be tilted vertically up to 55° before flight. So, depending on your preference, you can change the camera angle to capture either more of the ground in front of the drone or more of the landscape in the distance.
The live FPV image transmission to the smartphone works at distances of up to about 33 yards (30 meters). The image is transmitted to the smartphone in 720p. The videos are stored on your mobile device, a slot for memory cards is unfortunately not available.
Videos can be saved in AVI or MP4 format. The DEERC D20 records photos as JPEGs.
Gesture and voice control
A special highlight of the DEERC D20 is certainly the possibility to operate the drone both by voice and gesture control.
To take a photo, simply stand in front of the drone and form your fingers into a “Victory sign”. If you stretch your outstretched palm towards the drone, it will start a video.
A list of all available commands can be found in the user manual.

Conclusion
The DEERC D20 is a compact mini drone with HD camera for a small price. Thanks to two batteries, you can stay in the air for up to 20 minutes before the batteries need to be recharged.
With its low weight of just 69 grams, as well as the four propeller guards, the copter is also ideal as a drone for kids or teenagers who want to gain their first experience with multicopters.
The HD camera of the DEERC D20 delivers decent images, but of course does not come close to the quality of a more expensive drone with a camera. However, the pictures are sufficient for first FPV experiences.
Safety features like the low-battery warning or the emergency stop button are extremely practical, and the Headless mode will make it easier to operate, especially for beginners. All in all, the DEERC D20 is an excellent entry-level drone with camera at a very fair price.
