The Dragon Touch DF01G is an affordable entry-level drone with Full HD camera and FPV live image transmission. The foldable drone has GPS, offers autonomous flight modes like Follow Me and comes with two batteries from the factory.
Design and weight
The Dragon Touch DF01G is a foldable drone with dimensions of 17 x 13 x 6 cm. The outriggers can be folded for transport, and the drone and controller can then be conveniently stored in the included carrying bag.
Externally, the quadcopter comes in all black. The material used for the drone chassis is sturdy yet lightweight ABS plastic, which allows the quadcopter to survive minor collisions without any problems.
On the underside of the four motors, there are two-color LEDs that mark the front and rear of the drone with red and green lights.
For the protection of bystanders as well as the drone itself, a prop guard can be attached to each of the four rotors. The plastic hoops protect the rotors from damage in the event of collisions with obstacles, while also ensuring a safe flying experience when other people are nearby. Therefore, the drone is also perfectly suitable as a drone for children.

Since the Dragon Touch DF01G has a GPS module, it not only keeps its position in the air independently, but also masters some smart additional functions. One very practical feature, for example, is the Return-to-Home (RTH) mode, which allows the drone to return to the launch position or drone landing site at the push of a button.
By the way, the drone will return automatically without any pilot intervention if either the battery level reaches a critical value or the signal connection to the remote control is lost. This way, you don’t run the risk of accidentally losing the drone.
An emergency stop function has also been thought of, so that you can stop the drone’s motors at the push of a button if necessary.
A pleasant and safe flight experience is also ensured by the so-called Altitude Hold function, which allows the Dragon Touch DF01G to always independently maintain the current altitude without having to operate the thrust controller.
This is made possible by a built-in barometer that can determine the current altitude based on the air pressure.
Drone novices in particular will also be pleased with the so-called headless mode. In this mode, a simplified control of the drone is available to you as a pilot. If you activate the headless mode, it does not matter whether the front or rear of the drone is facing you when you execute a control command to the left, right, front or rear.
The drone will always fly in the direction you want it to go, regardless of its instantaneous orientation in the air. So there is no need to rethink based on the orientation of the drone in this mode.
However, we recommend that you only use the headless mode for a short time if possible, and that you also learn how to control the drone properly, since not all drones have a headless mode.
Flight time and range
The flight time of the Dragon Touch DF01G is about 15 minutes – per battery. Since the drone comes with two batteries (7.4 V, 1200 mAh) at once, you can enjoy up to 30 minutes of flight time in total before both batteries need to be recharged.
This works via the included USB charging cable, which needs to be connected to any power adapter, such as the one on your smartphone. The charging time of the battery is about 120 minutes.
Once in the air, you have a choice of three different speeds at which you can fly the multicopter. The range is about 130 yards (120 meters) and the transmission of the FPV live image should also work up to about this distance.
The camera of the Dragon Touch DF01G
The built-in camera of the Dragon Touch DF01G is a Full HD camera that records videos in 1920 x 1080 pixels. The field of view of the associated ultra-wide-angle lens is 120°, letting you capture large sections of the image.
To capture different perspectives, the camera can also be tilted vertically before flight. Unfortunately, this is not possible during the flight.
Since the Dragon Touch DF01G does not have a gimbal, the video recordings are always a bit shaky, but this is the norm in this price range. If you are looking for a drone with excellent photo and video quality for professional results, you will unfortunately have to dig a little deeper into your pocket and buy a slightly more expensive camera drone.
However, for a multicopter in this price range, the quality of the photo and video recordings is very decent.
Due to the built-in GPS module, the DF01G is capable of several autonomous flight modes that should help you create exciting video sequences.
A mode that is also known from many other drones is, for example, the so-called Follow Me mode, in which the drone follows you (or the signal of the controller) independently and simultaneously records a video of you.
Orbit mode allows you to fly around a selected object or person while recording a video.
Tap Fly mode allows you to draw multiple waypoints on a map in the app before the flight. The drone will then fly the set flight path independently, while you can take care of taking photos and or videos.
Remote control and app
The 2.4 GHz remote control of the Dragon Touch DF01G has an excellent response time and passes the control commands to the drone without delay. A fold-out holder on the controller is used to attach your smartphone, into which you can comfortably clamp your mobile device.
In addition to the obligatory joysticks, the controller also has various other buttons for access to the individual functions. For example, you will find a button for triggering photo and video recording, a button for turning GPS reception on and off, an RTH button, a button for automatic takeoff and landing, and a button for calibrating the drone.
It is also possible to switch between the three available speeds on the controller.
To view the live image of the drone on your own smartphone, you first have to download the free app “VS GPS“. The app is available for download for both iOS and Android devices in the respective app store.
The app offers various setting options and shows you important data about the current altitude and distance.
A nice extra of the app is the possibility to add music to the recorded videos in order to share them with friends.
For the operation of the remote control, three AA batteries or rechargeable batteries are needed, which are not included.
