The Eachine E65HW is a mini drone for beginners and kids that comes with two batteries for up to 16 minutes of flying fun. It can be operated via remote control or smartphone and even has a small camera to take photos and videos.
Who is the Eachine E65HW suitable for?
The Eachine E65HW is great for beginners due to its affordable price and simple controls. Since it also has protective rings around all four rotors, it can also be recommended as a drone for kids without hesitation.
Built into the propeller guards are many small LEDs that make the mini drone glow blue-green when desired.
The entry-level quadcopter measures 16 x 16 x 4 cm and weighs about 75 grams with battery. It is well-made and quite robustly built. Especially the sturdy plastic rings around the propellers protect the drone from damage in case of collisions with objects or walls. Bystanders are also protected from the fast-spinning propellers.
The control
The Eachine E65HW can be controlled either with the included remote control or simply with a smartphone. Even those who do not have a smartphone can fly with the drone. However, the camera can then not be used.
Four 1.5 V AAA batteries, which are not included, are still needed to operate the remote control.
No matter if you use the smartphone or the controller – the Eachine E65HW is very easy to control and poses no problems even for absolute beginners. Takeoff and landing work as easy as at the push of a button. Once in the air, the small drone independently maintains the current flight altitude without you having to permanently operate the thrust controller.
The small quadcopter can be flown at three different speeds (slow/medium/fast). The drone can also perform 360° overshoots. These can also be performed easily at the touch of a button.
For even easier operation, you can also switch to the so-called Headless mode. This mode allows for simplified control of the drone. In headless mode, it does not matter how the quadcopter is currently oriented when you execute a control command in a specific direction. The drone will always fly in the direction you pressed.
Flight time and range
Per battery charge, you can stay in the air with the Eachine E65HW for about 6 to 8 minutes. Since the drone is available with two batteries, you can enjoy up to 16 minutes of flying fun before the two batteries need to be recharged. The charging time of the two 3.7 V, 600 mAh LiPo batteries is about 60 minutes.
The drone can be controlled within a radius of up to 100 meters. If you only use your smartphone, the range is reduced to about 60 meters.
The Eachine E65HW can be flown both indoors and outdoors. However, outdoors, you should only take off when there is no wind, as the copter is very light and does not have GPS. Gusts of wind would therefore cause it to drift slightly.
The camera of Eachine E65HW
As one of the few mini drones with camera, you can also take photos and videos with Eachine E65HW. In addition, the HD camera of the drone also allows FPV transmission of the live image of the drone to your smartphone.
The camera can even be manually adjusted 45° before flight to capture different perspectives. To use the camera, you must first download and install the “Eachine FPV” app. The app is available for both Android phones and iPhones.
To take a photo, simply press the corresponding button on the controller or the button in the app. To start a video, the button on the controller must be pressed for about 2 to 3 seconds. A recording is also stopped by a long button press.
The quality of the recordings is perfectly fine for such an inexpensive drone, but of course you should not expect too much. If you really want to make high-quality videos, you should rather buy a different camera drone.
