le idea – IDEA 10 | Light camera drone with FPV transmission
The le Idea IDEA 10 is an affordable GPS drone with 1080p camera and FPV live image transmission. The beginner drone weighs about 200 grams and achieves flight times between 12 and 15 minutes. Find out what else there is to report about the le idea IDEA 10 in our detailed product description.
Design and features
The le idea drone is very easy to transport thanks to its folding mechanism, light weight and carrying bag. When folded, the Idea 10 measures 15 x 10 x 6.5 cm. When unfolded, the drone measures 40 x 33 x 6.5 cm.
A 6-axis gyroscope inside the drone, which weighs about 200 grams, provides the necessary position stabilization in the air. Despite the low weight of less than 250 grams, you need a drone license plate to operate the drone since 01.01.2021. You also need to register as a pilot.
The le idea IDEA 10 can be flown at three different speeds. The foldable drone reaches a maximum speed of about 35 km/h, which is quite fast.
Takeoff and landing work at the touch of a button, and a return-to-home button is also available. The drone also automatically returns to the takeoff position or landing pad if the signal to the remote control is lost or if the battery level is too low. However, since the le idea IDEA 10 only returns in return-to-home mode, but does not land, the landing must be performed manually or via landing button.
The included carrying case offers space for the drone and remote control, and other accessories can also be stored in a mesh compartment.
Flight time and range of the IDEA 10
The 1800 mAh, 3.7 V battery of the IDEA 10 drone allows flight times of approx. 12 to 15 minutes. The battery is charged in approx. 180 minutes using a USB charging cable. For a longer flight time with the drone, we recommend you to buy one or more additional batteries.
The maximum range of the le idea IDEA 10 is about 220 yards (200 meters). The transmission of the FPV live image works up to distances of approx. 55 yards (50 meters).
Remote control and app
The 2.4 GHz remote control of the IDEA 10 is powered by four AAA batteries, which still have to be purchased separately. In addition to an on/off switch and the two control joysticks, the controller has ten more buttons whose functions are explained in the user manual. The “key return” hides the Return-to-Home function, and the “key descent” lets the drone land automatically.
Although you can also control the drone only by remote control, to view the live image of the drone, you need the so-called “LW-FPV” app, which you can download for free.
Camera and FPV transmission
The IDEA 10’s 1080p camera records videos in 1920 × 1080 pixels at 30 fps. Photos are shot by the Idea drone in 5 megapixels. The field of view of the drone camera is 120°, which makes it wide-angled. The camera can be adjusted vertically by up to 90°, but only manually before flight.
Unfortunately, since the le idea drone does not have a gimbal for image stabilization, the shots will always be a bit shaky. However, for a beginner drone, the quality of the shots is perfectly fine.
If you don’t insert a memory card into the drone, your shots will be stored on your smartphone. However, we strongly recommend that you buy an SD card, as saving videos to the smartphone would include any artifacts from the video transfer. The SD card can be a maximum of 64 gigabytes in size.
Since the live image of the drone is transmitted via 2.4 GHz, just like the control signals, the maximum range of the image signal is only 55 yards (50 meters). Those who want to stream a live FPV image over longer distances should therefore buy a drone that transmits the video signal on the 5.8 GHz frequency band.
Flight modes of the Le Idea 10
Thanks to the built-in GPS module, the IDEA 10 can handle several automatic flight modes. For example, the drone has a Follow Me mode. If you activate this feature, the drone follows the signal of the remote control and thus you as the pilot, while simultaneously recording a video.
In Auto Surround mode, the drone can fly around you while capturing video of you. Both modes work, but they don’t deliver nearly the quality you’re used to from current top drones like a DJI Mavic Air 2, for example – which is also worlds more expensive!
Especially drone beginners will be happy about the so-called Headless Mode. In this mode, simplified control is available to you as a pilot. As soon as you activate the headless mode, it does not matter for the control of the drone whether the front or the tail is pointing towards you when you execute a control command to the front, back, left or right. The drone will always fly in the desired direction, regardless of its instantaneous orientation in the sky.
By the way, owners of VR goggles can use them with the IDEA 10 drone without any problems, according to the manufacturer.

Conclusion
The le idea IDEA 10 is an affordable drone with Full HD camera and live FPV image transmission. Thanks to the foldable design, the small camera drone is convenient to transport and the included carrying case protects the drone from damage.
You get a foldable quadcopter with 12 to 15 minutes of flight time and about 220 yards (200 meters) of range, which is perfect for beginners. The Idea 10 also masters a Follow-Me mode as well as Return-to-Home and automatic takeoff and landing.
All in all, the manufacturer le idea delivers an excellent camera drone with many functions for little money with the IDEA 10. We can highly recommend the drone, especially to beginners, but if you are looking for professional camera shots, you should rather look for a model with a gimbal.
