Sansisco D15 – Mini Drone with Camera and 2 Batteries

The Sansisco D15 is a mini drone with a Full HD camera and foldable arms. It comes with no less than two batteries for a total of up to 20 minutes of flight time, can transmit the live image of the camera to your own smartphone (FPV) and is overall a very good entry-level drone.

Design and weight

The ultra-compact mini drone comes in an all-black color scheme. Only a few white stripes on the arms provide subtle color accents. At the same time, the stripes indicate which propeller belongs to which motor.

With the arms unfolded and the propeller guards attached, the Sansisco drone measures 13 x 16 x 4 cm. When folded up, it is even smaller and can therefore be stored in a very space-saving way. The drone, controller and accessories are securely packaged in a box that is generously lined with foam rubber and can also be used for safe transport.

On the bottom of the four arms are small landing feet, so that the small copter can safely take off and land even on uneven surfaces.

While two small white LEDs are installed at the front, an elongated red LED sits at the rear. The LEDs help you easily distinguish the front and rear during flight.

The weight of the Sansisco D15 is well under 250 grams. However, since the mini drone has a camera, you will need an registration number and an insurance if you are living in the UK.

Many helpful flight functions

3 Speeds & Altitude Hold.

The Sansisco D15 has various features that make handling the drone much easier, especially for beginners. For example, takeoff and landing work quite simply at the push of a button. After takeoff, the drone rises about half a meter into the air and remains there in hovering flight.

In general, the D15 always independently maintains the current flight altitude (Altitude Hold) as soon as they release the left control stick. If the quadcopter drifts in one direction while hovering, you can balance it with the help of four trim buttons on the remote control.

There are three different speeds to choose from for the flight, so you can slowly get used to handling the drone.

If you ever lose control of the aircraft, you can simply use the handy emergency stop function, which brings all four motors to an immediate halt. However, only use this function in case of an emergency, as the drone will instantly fall out of the air.

For the necessary protection in case of collisions with walls, furniture or trees, the four propeller guards can be attached to the four arms if needed. Since the rotor guards also protect bystanders from the fast-spinning propellers, the Sansisco D15 can also be recommended as a drone for children from about 10 years of age.

Flight characteristics

You can fly the handy mini quadcopter both indoors and outdoors. However, outdoors you should only take off in as little wind as possible, otherwise the drone can easily drift away due to its light weight.

The handy and very lightweight remote control has various other buttons to trigger the various functions of the Sansisco D15 in addition to the two obligatory control joysticks, which, by the way, are slightly offset. The controller also has a fold-out holder for smartphones.

Three AAA batteries or rechargeable batteries are still needed to operate the remote control.

By the way, if you want, you can control the drone without a controller at all, just with your smartphone. With this type of control, you give the copter flight commands by tilting the smartphone in the appropriate direction.

However, before this becomes possible, you first need to download and install the “Sansisco-Vapp. The app is available for both iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded for free from the respective App Store.

However, we recommend you to control it via controller, as it gives you more control over the drone. In general, the Sansisco D15 responds very directly to control commands and can be controlled and flown precisely.

The Sansisco D15 can also be controlled by smartphone only.

Flight time and range

Up to 20 minutes flight time thanks to 2 batteries.

The flight time of the Sansisco D15 is about 10 minutes per battery. Since the mini drone comes with two batteries (3.7 V, 500 mAh Li-Ion), you can enjoy a total of up to 20 minutes of flight time before the two batteries need to be recharged via the included USB charging cable.

A warning tone emitted by the controller conveniently alerts you to a low battery level, so you always have enough time to land the drone safely.

For charging, simply connect the USB cable to a PC, laptop or powerbank, or connect it to your smartphone’s power adapter. One charge takes approximately 75 minutes per battery. The complete charging is signaled by an LED on the charging cable.

The control range is approximately 55 to 87 yards (50 to 80 meters). Please note, however, that obstacles such as buildings or trees can negatively affect the signal transmission and reduce the range. Therefore, it is best to always fly outdoors in a large, open area.

The distance at which you can receive the FPV live image on your smartphone is also about 55 yards (50 meters).

The adjustable camera of the Sansisco D15

The Full HD camera of the Sansisco D15 records videos in 1920 x 1080 pixels. Photos are recorded in 2 megapixels.

The camera can be tilted vertically up to 90° before flight, from horizontal forward to vertical down.

Since the drone does not have an SD card slot, the captured photos and videos are saved directly to the smartphone and can then be accessed via the app.

A nice feature is the option to add background music to the recorded videos in the app.

The quality of the photos and videos is perfectly fine for a drone in this price range, but of course it is nowhere near the quality of much more expensive camera drones. This is mainly due to the lack of a gimbal for image stabilization. Such a camera mount is usually only found in drones from about 300 dollars.

TapFly, 3D flips, headless mode & more

Simple control thanks to Headless mode.

With the help of the TapFly mode of the Sansisco D15, you can draw a flight route in the app before the flight, which is then flown independently by the drone. However, since the copter does not have GPS, the function only works relatively limited.

In contrast, the 3D flips, which can be triggered via the right shoulder button, work reliably. By pressing the flip button and simultaneously pressing in one direction, the Sansisco D15 performs a flip in the corresponding direction.

Beginners in particular will also be happy about the so-called Headless mode. In this mode, a simplified control of the drone is available to you. Normally, you always have to pay attention to the direction of the drone when giving control commands so that it flies in the desired direction. In Headless mode, this is not the case and the copter will always fly in the direction you are pushing it. So there is no need to rethink due to the orientation.

However, we recommend that you do not fly in Headless mode for too long and also learn the normal controls of the drone, since by far not all copters have such a mode.

Especially for taking selfies, the built-in gesture control of the Sansisco D15 is very handy. To have a photo taken of you without using the controller or app, simply stand a short distance in front of the drone’s camera and form your fingers into the “Victory” sign. To start or stop a video, all you need to do is hold out your outstretched hand to the drone.

Conclusion

The Sansisco D15 is an excellent drone for beginners who want to gain their first experience with multicopters. It is also a great toy for children from about 10 years old.

Since the drone comes from the factory with two batteries at once, you can enjoy up to 20 minutes of flight time in total while controlling the copter within a range of about 55 to 87 yards (50 to 80 meters).

The vertically adjustable Full HD camera of the mini drone can take photos and videos and then saves them directly to your own smartphone.

Thanks to features like one-touch takeoff and landing, altitude hold, and Headless mode, the Sansisco D15 is especially beginner-friendly, and the precise controls also make it easy to learn how to use the drone quickly.

All in all, the Sansisco D15 is a well designed mini drone at an affordable price and therefore highly recommended. We wish you a lot of fun flying it already!
