Snaptain H823H – Rugged mini drone for kids & adults
The Snaptain H823H mini drone is an excellent entry-level drone for children from about 6 years as well as for adults. The small copter comes with three batteries, allowing for a total flight time of about 21 minutes.
Design and features
The 7 x 7.5 cm x 2.5 cm small Snaptain H823H is offered in three colors: red, green and blue. The material of the drone in all versions is made of robust and non-toxic plastic.
With a weight of 97.2 grams, the Snaptain H823H is extremely light and therefore also very susceptible to wind. However, since the small drone is mainly designed for indoor use, this shouldn’t be too much of a problem. You can also fly outside with the H823H, but then you should really only take off on windless days.
Due to the low weight as well as the stable propeller protection, the Snaptain H823H is not only suitable for adults, but also as a drone for kids from about 6 years. The four cages around the rotors protect bystanders from injuries in case of contact with the drone and also the drone itself is protected from damages in case of collisions with walls or furniture.
A bright LED light on the front ensures good visibility of the drone. Takeoff and landing work quite easily with the push of a button and even a Return to Home mode is available. However, since the drone does not have GPS, it only returns to you in an imaginary straight line; unfortunately, an exact return to the starting position, as known from expensive camera drones, is not possible.
Depending on your own skills, you can control the Snaptain H823H in one of the three available speed levels, which you can switch between by pressing the left control joystick.
A very handy feature is that the drone warns you acoustically when the battery level is too low, signaling that you should prepare to land.
Headless-Modus & Altitude Hold
Especially children as well as absolute beginners will be happy about the Headless mode of the Snaptain H823H. If you activate this mode, the mini drone is even easier to maneuver. In Headless Mode, it doesn’t matter whether the front or the back of the drone is facing you when you execute a control command to the left, right, front or back. The drone will always fly in the desired direction, no matter how it is currently oriented in the air.
Even though the mode is very convenient, we still recommend that you only use this type of control for as short a time as possible. Since not all drones have a headless mode, you should definitely learn the “normal” drone control as well in the short or long run.
Another handy feature the ability of the drone to be able to hold the current altitude (Altitude Hold), without you having to permanently accelerate. In Altitude Hold mode, the small copter can hover independently at a fixed altitude, while it can continue to be controlled horizontally.
Flight time, range & stunts of the Snaptain H823H
One battery charge is enough for about seven minutes of flight time. Depending on how fast you travel with the Snaptain H823H, this number varies slightly up or down.
Since three LiPos (lithium polymer batteries) are included in the scope of delivery, you get a total of about 21 minutes of flight time before the batteries need to be recharged. By the way, this works conveniently via USB charging cable and takes about 40 minutes per battery.
The range of the Snaptain H823H is about 33 yards (30 meters), which is more than sufficient for flights inside buildings. Three AAA batteries are still needed to use the remote control.
The two stunt functions of the mini drone provide variety in the air. At the push of a button, the drone performs 3D flips or 360° rotations.
Scope of delivery
- 1 x Snaptain H823H
- 3 x battery (LiPo)
- 1 x remote control
- 2 x USB charging cable
- 4 x spare propellers
- 1 x screwdriver
- 1 x instruction manual
Conclusion
The Snaptain H823H is an excellent mini drone that is suitable for both adults and children from about 6 years old. The full propeller guard protects both the drone from damage and bystanders from contact with the rotors.
We really like the fact that the drone comes with three batteries. This gives you a total of about 21 minutes of flight time. Thanks to the sturdy material and good workmanship, the drone survives most crashes and collisions unscathed and thus ensures lasting flying fun.
Equipped with Headless mode, takeoff and landing at the touch of a button, and the ability to perform stunts, it is best suited for drone beginners and anyone looking for a robust fun drone at a low price. Currently, this mini drone is clearly one of the best mini drones without a camera – we can therefore highly recommend the Snaptain H823H!
