Snaptain SP350 – Rugged mini drone with 3 batteries
The Snaptain SP350 is an excellent mini drone, which is best suited for children from 6 years. The mini quadcopter is extremely robust, easy to control and comes with three batteries for up to 21 minutes of flight time.
Design and weight
The Snaptain SP350 mini drone measures just 8.8 x 7.7 x 3 cm and weighs only 25 grams. It can therefore be conveniently taken anywhere.
To protect bystanders, the drone’s four rotors are surrounded by a sturdy propeller guard. The rest of the housing is also made of sturdy plastic and promises a long service life.
The Snaptain SP350 is available in either blue or yellow. A white LED can be found at the front of the drone, and a red LED at the rear. For the remote control, 2x AAA batteries are still needed, which are unfortunately not included.
Flight time and range of the Snaptain SP350
The flight time of the Snaptain SP350 is about 7 minutes – per battery. Since the mini drone comes with three 300 mAh batteries from the factory, you can enjoy up to 21 minutes of flight time before the batteries need to be recharged. To prevent the drone from simply crashing when the battery is empty, a beep warns you when the battery is almost empty – so you can still land in time.
With the included USB charging cable, up to two batteries can be charged simultaneously. One charging process takes about 40 minutes.
The Snaptain SP350 can be controlled either indoors or outdoors. If you want to fly with the drone outdoors, we recommend that you only do so when there is no wind, as the drone is very susceptible to wind due to its low weight. The range of the remote control is about 33 yards (30 meters). So you should not fly further than that, otherwise the radio contact with the drone will be broken.
Flight characteristics and features
The Snaptain SP350 has a few handy features that make using the drone even easier.
You can take off and land the Snaptain SP350 simply by pressing a button. On takeoff, the drone flies about 5 feet (1.5 meters) into the air and then maintains this altitude completely automatically, even if you don’t touch the control joysticks. This is made possible by the internally installed barometer.
So you don’t have to permanently step on the gas during the entire flight for the drone to maintain the current altitude. This is a big advantage of the Snaptain SP350 compared to many other mini drones, where you often have to manually hold the current flight altitude.
Once in the air, you have a choice of three different speeds, which can be selected via a button on the remote control.
The headless mode of the Snaptain SP350
Especially beginners and children will be happy about the so-called Headless mode. If you activate this mode, you have simplified control of the drone. Normally, you always have to know whether the front or the rear of the drone is facing you when you execute a command to change direction, but in Headless Mode, the drone’s orientation is irrelevant. The drone will always fly in the desired direction, regardless of its instantaneous orientation in the sky.
Nevertheless, we recommend that you don’t fly in Headless mode for too long and also deal with the normal controls of the drone, since by far not every drone has Headless mode.
Throw’N Go, 360° Flips & Circle Flight
Thanks to the “Throw’N Go” function, you can simply throw the mini drone into the air for takeoff. Of course, the copter can also be launched normally – but the throwing start makes much more of an impression!
Two more functions are available for acrobatic flight maneuvers and stunts. With the 360° flip function, you can have the Snaptain SP350 perform loops in different directions. To do this, simply press the Flip button and then use the right control joystick to select any direction for the flip.
The second function is the so-called “circle flight“. At the push of a button, the mini-drone swings into a circular path and holds it until the mode is ended again.
