Teeggi VISUO XS816 – foldable beginner drone with 4K camera
The Teeggi VISUO XS816 is a foldable beginner drone with 4K camera and FPV live image transmission. The drone can be controlled with the remote control or just with the smartphone and is suitable for drone pilots from 14 years old.
Design and equipment
Weighing just 165 grams, the Teeggi VISUO XS816 is extremely lightweight and folds up to save space for transport thanks to its foldable design.
With the arms folded in, the dark gray drone measures 18.5 x 13.5 x 6 cm. When unfolded, it comes to dimensions of 28 x 30 x 6 cm. On the undersides of each of the four motors are small, two-tone LEDs to help distinguish the front and rear of the drone in the sky.
Once in the air, the multicopter automatically maintains the current altitude when you release the control joysticks. This is made possible by an internally installed barometer, which enables the so-called Altitude Hold function.
The One-Key-Return function allows you, the pilot, to have the VISUO XS816 drone return to the take-off position or drone landing site at the push of a button. For variety in the air, the 360° flip function allows for spectacular flips at the touch of a button.
Since the copter has clip-on propeller guards, it is also recommended as a drone for kids. This protects them from the rapidly spinning rotors. The prop guards also protect the drone from collisions with walls or objects, so it won’t break.
Control & flight characteristics
Due to the light weight of the Teeggi VISUO XS816, we recommend that you only fly the drone outdoors in calm or very light winds. Meanwhile, the necessary flight stability is provided by a 6-axis gyroscope inside the copter, which ensures a stable flight attitude.
The gyroscope is supported near the ground by a 0.3 megapixel camera attached to the underside of the drone (optical flow positioning system). The camera continuously films the ground and uses the data to determine its position.
Depending on its own capabilities, the Teeggi VISUO XS816 can be flown at three different speeds (25%, 50%, 100%). The maximum speed is up to 18.6 mph (30 km/h), which is relatively fast for such an inexpensive drone.
The drone can be controlled either with the 2.4 GHz controller (3 AA batteries are still needed) or just via smartphone. In the so-called G-sensor mode, tilting the smartphone in one direction is enough to give the drone a corresponding control command. Alternatively, virtual control joysticks can be displayed on the screen.
To use the G-Sensor mode, you have to download and install the FPV GO app in advance, which is also required for the FPV live flight.
Beginners in particular will also be pleased with the headless mode of the Teeggi VISUO XS816. Activating this mode, it doesn’t matter if the front or the tail of the drone is pointing straight at you when you execute a control command in a certain direction. The drone will always fly in the desired direction, regardless of its instantaneous orientation in the sky. This eliminates the need to rethink based on the drone’s orientation.
However, we recommend that you only fly in headless mode for as short a time as possible and also deal with the normal control of the drone, as by no means all multicopters have a headles mode for simplified control.
Flight time and range
Thanks to an 1800 mAh, 3.7 V battery, the Teeggi VISUO XS816 can stay in the air for up to 20 minutes before the battery needs to be recharged. A charging process via USB charging cable takes about 180 minutes. Depending on the power supply used, charging can also take a little longer or shorter. We generally recommend buying at least one additional battery when purchasing a drone to double the flight time before the batteries need to be recharged.
The maximum possible control range is about 55 to 110 yards (50 to 100 meters), depending on where you are flying. Keep in mind that obstacles such as trees or buildings, as well as other devices transmitting on the 2.4 GHz WI-FI frequency, can affect the control range.
The camera of the Teeggi VISUO XS816
The 4K camera of the Teeggi VISUO XS816 records videos in 2048 x 1080 pixels and photos in 4096 x 3072 pixels. The drone does not have a gimbal for image stabilization – something you unfortunately only find in more expensive drones with cameras.
However, the camera’s orientation can be adjusted vertically before the flight, so that shots from different perspectives are possible.
Photo and video recordings can either be started classically via the remote control or app, or simply via gesture. To take a photo, form the “Victory” sign with one hand while standing in front of the drone camera. To start a video, you can hold your outstretched palm in front of the camera.
Photos and videos are stored directly on the smartphone; unfortunately, there is no card slot for memory cards.
To transmit the drone’s live FPV image, you need to have the FPV GO app installed. You can simply attach your smartphone to the remote control for viewing the live video. A fold-out holder is available for this purpose.

Conclusion
The Teeggi VISUO XS816 is an extremely affordable camera drone for beginners. It is lightweight (165 grams), can be folded for transport and has a long flight time of about 20 minutes.
The quadcopter can be controlled either exclusively by smartphone or remote control, or a combination of both. The drone’s photo and video recordings are very decent for the low price, even though you should not expect any miracles here, of course.
Controlling the drone is possible within a radius of about 55 to 110 yards (50 to 100 meters). The transmission of the FPV live image does not work quite as far and is more stable the shorter your distance to the drone is.
With the features of headless mode, altitude hold and one key return, the Teeggi VISUO XS816 is best suited for beginners and kids 14 years and older. For the affordable price, you can definitely do little wrong with this drone. We wish you a lot of fun trying it out already!
