UDI RC Navigator U31W – beginner copter with FPV function
The UDI RC Navigator U31W has an integrated 720p HD camera, can be operated via remote control or app and convinces with many extra functions. The black and yellow U31W quadcopter is suitable for beginners and advanced pilots, is well-made and can therefore withstand the odd crash without damage. Externally, the copter strongly resembles the Parrot Bepop 2 Drone, which is, however, one price range higher.
Features of the Navigator U31W Drone
The UDI RC U31W comes with a remote control (4 AA batteries are still needed). Those who prefer to control the drone via smartphone can do so with the help of the “Flyingsee” app. However, controlling the quadcopter via app is generally more difficult, and beginners are advised to use the remote control.
The Navigator U31W Drone has various functions that make flying much easier, especially for beginners. If you activate the so-called Headless mode, the orientation of the drone does not matter. If you usually have to keep a close eye on whether the front of the drone is pointing towards you or away from you, the UDI RC U301W always flies in this direction when you move the control lever to the left in Headless mode.
An Altitude Hold mode, or a so-called hover function, is also available and allows the altitude to be held automatically. To get familiar with the Navigator U31W drone in the beginning, the speed of the copter can also be reduced by pressing a button – a great feature for those who want to control a drone for the first time.
Another feature is the drone’s so-called emergency button. Should you ever lose control, the UDI 31W can be landed and turned off simply by pressing a button.
If the battery power is running low, a warning tone sounds to inform you to land the drone and replace or recharge the battery.
Battery and accessories
The 350 mAh LiPo of the UDI Navigator U31W allows a flight duration of approx. 5 to 7 minutes. For longer trips with the drone, we therefore recommend the purchase of one or more spare batteries. The battery is charged with the included USB charging cable. One charging process takes about 1 hour.

The UDI RC Navigator U31W has an integrated HD camera with 120° wide angle, which can take photos in 1280 x 720 pixels and videos in 720p with 20 fps. The quality of the recordings is well worth seeing, even if it naturally does not come close to that of more expensive drones with cameras. The videos look a bit choppy and shaky, but for a drone in this price range, the overall quality is okay.
For those who want to come the pleasure of flying in first-person view (FPV), the U31W drone offers the possibility of transferring the live image to a smartphone. The transmission works up to a distance of about 33 yards (30 meters).
