Yuneec Breeze 4K – the perfect selfie drone for any situation

With the new Yuneec Breeze 4K you get a compact drone with many features and a good camera. The small size makes the Breeze 4K the ideal drone for on the go. The small quadcopter is controlled exclusively via smartphone. The Yuneec Breeze is great for selfies from the air, but also masters other interesting modes such as Follow-Me, Orbit or Journey.

Yuneec vs. DJI – an eternal duel

Yuneec is by no means an unknown quantity on the drone market, but market leader DJI keeps leading the way with innovative models like the Mavic Pro or the Phantom 4 Pro. Of course, the competition has to be inventive if they want to keep up. And that’s exactly what has distinguished Yuneec for years, making the company one of the leading drone manufacturers behind DJI. In addition to the Breeze 4K, Yuneec offers many other high-quality drones – for example, the Typhoon G Q500 or the Typhon H Plus hexacopter.

Compared to most current-generation drones, the Yuneec Breeze comes across as rather simple – but that’s exactly the highlight of this drone. In its elegant simplicity, it delivers exactly what the user needs.

The Yuneec Breeze 4K – it doesn’t get much handier than this

With a diameterof approx. 24 cm, the Yuneec Breeze 4K is not only very handy – the weight of just 385 g also makes the drone a real lightweight.

Thus, the Yuneec Breeze 4K not only fits in any pocket, you can also take the drone comfortably everywhere. And when the moment for the perfect photo has come, it’s time to take out the drone and let it fly!

What can the Yuneec Breeze 4K do?

The maximum flight time is 12 minutes, and the range is about 87 yards (80 meters). How far the drone itself can roam into the distance also depends on the transmission strength of your smartphone. But don’t worry, if the Yuneec Breeze 4K ever loses contact, it will automatically stop in the air. And if the battery reaches the critical 5% limit, the drone will start its way home by itself. With a maximum speed of 11 mph (5 m/s), the Breeze is not an FPV racing drone, but it is certainly enough for nice shots. By the way, there is room for two spare batteries in the included carrying bag.

The camera

The best thing about the Breeze 4K is certainly the camera. And so it is also the number one argument when it comes to: Buy the Yuneec Breeze 4K or not? The 13-megapixel camera takes very decent pictures – but the video recordings of the Yuneec Breeze 4K in particular do not need to shy away from a comparison with a more expensive drone.

The electronic image stabilization ensures that there are no flight-related shakes in the picture, neither when taking pictures nor when filming. The photo resolution comes in at 4160 x 3120 pixels. There are various scenery modes that create different color schemes and shades in the shots. You can choose between nature, saturation, RAW and night. A very good automatic white balance and 16 GB of internal memory perfectly round out the offerings of this really good action cam.

Specials and special features

The Yuneec Breeze 4K comes with a few quite wonderful flight modes, some of which seem like small gimmicks, but still offer a lot of fun. The following modes are available:

The different flight modes.

Pilot Mode

In Pilot Mode, you take control of your drone in the classic way and navigate the Breeze wherever you want. To do this, you use the virtual joysticks on your smartphone or an optionally available joypad. On the smartphone display, you can always see the live image from the camera.

Selfie Mode

In Selfie Mode, as the name suggests, the drone takes selfies of you. You don’t need a lot of flying experience to do this. Simply set the desired height and distance of the drone using the controls in the smartphone, and it does the rest. The selfie is taken and the drone returns to its starting point.

Orbit Mode

In Orbit Mode, the Yuneec Breeze 4K draws circles around you or an object you mark. Interesting videos or photos can be taken from this perspective. Of course, the flight can be paused at any time.

Journey Mode

In Journey Mode, the Yuneec Breeze 4K literally goes on a journey. The drone moves further and further away from you, but you remain in the camera’s view throughout. Eventually, the drone returns along the same path, keeping you in the picture throughout.

Follow Me Mode

Follow Me Mode works almost the same with the Yuneec Breeze 4K as it does with many other drones. Steer the drone to any point in the sky and give the “Follow Me command”. The drone will follow you, maintaining the set distance throughout. Of course, this mode only works as long as a GPS signal is available.

Also suitable for indoors thanks to excellent sensor technology

The Yuneec Breeze 4K comes with a very good GPS and a sophisticated indoor positioning system (IPS). These two systems allow the pilot to control the drone with pinpoint accuracy. In addition, small flying adventures can be held indoors, especially thanks to the IPS sensors. This is because GPS and IPS sensors ensure that the drone is always in the best position to maintain its position, whether inside a room or outdoors.

Also, the sensors ensure that the drone simply stays in the air and hovers on the spot should you ever let go of the control sticks or should your phone lose connection with the drone. Since the Yuneec Breeze 4K has stored the distance traveled from the starting point, it can switch to Return to Home mode even without a direct connection to the controller. So even in the case of a dead battery, no misfortune can happen.

The control

The simplest way to control the Yuneec Breeze 4K is to use the app for your smartphone or tablet. With the “Breeze Cam” app, which can be easily downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store and installed on your smartphone or tablet, you will find all the necessary functions combined in one application. Operation in the app is child’s play.

With just a few clicks, you can set things like the maximum distance or maximum altitude, select flight mode, change settings for photo and video quality and resolution, and directly edit pictures and videos once they have been taken. Of course, you can also download firmware updates here on a regular basis.

The direct connection to social media is also very nice, which you can enjoy on demand with the Breeze Cam app. This way, you can download photos and/or movies from the camera’s internal memory to your smartphone or tablet directly after the flight and publish the recordings on social networks. You can also share your flight adventures with others without much effort. By the way, during the flight you will continuously see the live image of the drone’s on-board camera in the display of your device. And this is exactly a point that allows for another very interesting extra.

Possible extensions

FPV & Controller Kit.

In addition to the Yuneec Breeze 4K, you can optionally order an FPV & controller kit. The abbreviation FPV stands for First Person View and means a flight in the “first person perspective”. This means as much as the possibility to virtually enter the cockpit of your drone yourself. How to do that? It’s simple. The FPV & Controller kit includes a mount that you insert your phone intom to get a simple pair of FPV goggles.

Since with these glasses you really only have the already mentioned live image of the camera in front of your eyes, SIe quickly get the feeling of really sitting in the cockpit of the drone.

In addition, a handy game controller is also available, as you know it from various game consoles. Thanks to the control sticks, even tricky flight maneuvers are no problem with this controller.

Who is this drone most suitable for?

For anyone who likes to use their drone on the go for various occasions. It has to be said that Yuneec has solved the question of the target group very intelligently here. With the Breeze 4K, Yuneec has launched a drone that is suitable for beginners, both in terms of ease of use and price range.

But it is precisely the extras that have to do with the possibilities of photography and filming that make the drone interesting for advanced pilots as well. For pilots with more experience, however, the Yuneec Breeze 4K is most likely to be interesting compared to other drones if you are regularly on the go and want to have a drone at hand that you can almost always stow somewhere and take with you. Who knows where you will encounter the next dreamlike photo motif.

Conclusion

The Yuneec Breeze 4K is a quadcopter that has to pass the comparison with the Parrot Bebop 2 Drone in terms of price range. If you look at various tests on the Internet and in relevant magazines and compare the Yuneec Breeze 4K with the Parrot Bebop 2 Drone, you will quickly see that the Yuneec Breeze 4K is definitely a worthy competitor in the comparison.

Nice additional little things like the option to order an FPV & Controller Kit, which includes a headset that you can quickly turn into First Person Flight goggles with the help of your own smartphone, make the offer a bit more attractive. All in all, it must be said that this drone is especially suitable for beginners and pilots with first experience who would like to have a really very good camera drone.
